Best Burritos in Carlsbad: Local Favorites for National Burrito Day

It’s National Burrito Day, and this is a day where Carlsbad shines.

From third-generation staples to beachside seafood burritos and even sushi burritos (yes, really), our local food scene delivers serious burrito energy. Whether you're grabbing something quick before the beach or sitting down for margaritas and mariachi, there’s a burrito for every mood.

Here are a few of our favorite Carlsbad burrito spots to celebrate today (and every day).

Local Favorite:

Lola’s Deli

If you know, you know. Lola’s is one of those places locals have been going to for years, and it still feels like a true neighborhood staple every time you walk in. Originally opened in 1943, Lola’s is a third-generation Carlsbad classic with deep roots in the community.

Go-to order: Breakfast burrito or the BRC (beans, rice, cheese)

Don’t skip: Their green sauce… it’s elite

Vibe: Casual, order-at-the-counter, very local energy

Fish Burrito:

Pelly's Fish Market & Café

This is the kind of place you go when you want something fresh that actually tastes like the ocean in the best way possible. Pelly’s doubles as a fish market, so you’re getting super fresh seafood every time. It’s one of those low-key spots that consistently delivers.

Why it stands out: Super fresh seafood + market counter

Bonus: Indoor + patio seating

Pro tip: Grab one and head 5 minutes to Ponto State Beach

Sit-Down Experience:

Casa de Bandini

Visiting Case de Bandini is a full experience along with delicious food. This is one of my favorite spots to go to meet up with friends, dine with a large group, a fun date night or when I’m craving really good Mexican food and a top notch margarita. Ordering the burrito wet (with sauce on top) levels up the meal and adding an order of their amazing guacamole really rounds it out. The decor, the sound of the mariachi band walking around, and the smell of sizzling fajitas make it one of those places you go for the experience just as much as the food.

Order it: Wet burrito

Pair with: Margaritas + guac

Vibe: Mariachi, handmade tortillas, big group friendly

Seating: Bar, dining room, or a spacious patio

Unexpected Twist:

Rolled Up SD

This is your wildcard pick… but it works. Located inside Windmill Food Hall, Rolled Up SD serves sushi burritos that are satisfying and perfect when you want something a little different.

What to expect: Fresh fish, bold sauces, super satisfying

Location perks: inside the Windmill Food Hall, great spot for groups, near the Flower Fields at Carlsbad, and five minutes from the beach

Bonus: Games, bar, trivia nights, tons of seating

Deal Alert:

Pure Taco

If you’re looking for a reason to grab a burrito today, this is it. Pure Taco is running a $2 off burritos deal today for National Burrito Day (April 2, 2026), making it an easy yes for a casual lunch or quick dinner.

Vibe: taco bar with a fun, vintage-meets-modern feel

What to expect: Hand-pressed tortillas, specialty margaritas, and local beers on tap

Perfect for: Casual nights out, happy hour, and easy meetups

“Not a Burrito” Burrito:

Board & Brew

Okay, hear me out on this one. Order the Baja Beef in a gluten-free wrap and it basically turns into a burrito… and a really good one at that. It’s one of those accidental menu hacks that works.

Why it works: Warm beef + melty goodness Jalapeños + that signature sauce

Vibe: This is the “I came for sandwiches but ordered this instead” move

Local Inspiration:

Carlsbad Cravings

If you’re staying in, Carlsbad Cravings has you covered too. Local creator Jen behind Carlsbad Cravings shares recipes that feel elevated but still totally doable, and a few of her burrito recipes have officially made it into the weekly meal plan.
